Whether you’re dreaming of your first track day or you’re a seasoned competitor looking for your next challenge, WERA racing offers an accessible, thrilling, and supportive environment for motorcycle enthusiasts across the United States.
A Rich American Racing Legacy
Since its establishment in 1973, the Western Eastern Roadracing Association (WERA) has established itself as America’s premier national organization devoted exclusively to the advancement, operation, and sanctioning of motorcycle roadracing. With over five decades of history, the organization has brought roadracing to many parts of the country where no viable program previously existed and has maintained an unparalleled safety record.
Today, WERA boasts an impressive community of over 3,000 licensed road racers competing annually, 135+ dedicated Lifetime Members who have held competition licenses for ten consecutive years, and approximately 75 Mini License holders representing the next generation of racing talent.

Racing Formats for Every Rider
The organization offers three distinct racing formats to accommodate different riding preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone:
Sprint Racing
Sprint races are short-distance events, typically 6-10 laps, with classes organized by motorcycle type and rider experience. These races focus on pure speed, quick reflexes, and precision riding, making them popular among both newcomers and experienced racers.
Endurance Racing
Endurance races range from 2 to 24 hours and are team-based competitions with multiple riders sharing one motorcycle. These events emphasize strategy, consistency, and motorcycle reliability, offering a unique racing experience that combines teamwork and individual skill.
Mini Racing
Mini racing is designed for smaller displacement motorcycles, serving as an ideal entry point for younger riders. These races are typically held on kart tracks or smaller circuit configurations, helping young riders build fundamental skills in a more accessible format.
Age Requirements and Accessibility
WERA is committed to making motorcycle racing accessible across age groups, with specific safety guidelines for young riders. Riders as young as 8 years old can participate in practice sessions with minis, while specific class and displacement restrictions apply to older youth. Riders 16 and older are allowed to run any legal machinery. These age limits may be adjusted at the organization’s discretion on a case-by-case basis.
